Artist Statement
Joe Karaffa believes every place has a story waiting to be discovered. His work is driven by curiosity and a deep appreciation for the beauty found in everyday life. Whether it's a fisherman returning to harbor in Nazaré, the golden evening light of Venice, the vast landscapes of the American West, or fleeting moments that most people simply walk past, every photograph reflects that philosophy.
After a lifetime of business leadership, Joe and his wife, Maureen, chose Portugal as their new home. There, a lifelong passion for photography has become a second career dedicated to creating fine art that celebrates remarkable places and the people who give them life.
His work is built on one simple philosophy.
